TSC 2023 Senior Interns Confirmation Updates. The Teachers service commission has given a ray of hope to intern teachers concerning confirmation into permanent terms. The commission has renewed hopes of the February senior interns who have served under internship program for a year .

The commission employed these teachers in February of this year. The teachers were tasked with the mandate of ensuring smooth running of academic activities in junior secondary schools. Implementation of the CBC curriculum was part and parcel of their jobs.

Now that the CBC curriculum is fully taking shape, the commission has been seeking for funds to employ more teachers. There is an acute teacher shortage in junior schools . The teachers in junior school have therefore been forced to teach several learning areas to help with the situation.

Transition of grade 6 to 7

The transition of grade 6 to grade 7 has created numerous career advancement opportunities for teachers. In addition, this year alone has seen the government employ thousands of teachers to junior schools. This has been a major milestone as several graduate teachers have been employed.

Additionally, with an additional class come 2024, there will be need for the government to recruit more teachers to fill the gap. We shall be having grade 7 and 8 in junior secondary.

The commission initiated mass recruited of teachers in February 2023. This saw a total of 20,000 teachers hired to primary and junior schools under the internship program. The commission opted to employ such a huge number under internship program owing to the huge finances needed to employ all those under PnP terms.

However, the teachers have provided a vital support in this year’s transition to junior secondary. The dedication and commitment of these teachers has created a positive impact in implementation of the CBC curriculum.

Confirmation into permanent terms

The commission has made clear it’s intention  to have all February interns confirmed into permanent and pensionable terms. This is set to be done early 2024 when the new academic year will start. Confirmation of these teachers will be a major milestone and a motivating factor to these teachers who will work tirelessly to support the CBC curriculum.

Before schools reopen for January 2024 term 1, all the senior interns will receive their permanent and pensionable letters. TSC has always been working effortlessly to ensure all the teachers’ issues are handles well.
