The Ministry of Education has announced the reopening schedule for Kipsigis Girls High School following a period of unrest that disrupted learning activities at the institution.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Ministry confirmed that the school will release students on June 6, 2026, to allow for administrative review and restoration of normal operations. The decision comes after consultations with education officials, school leadership, and security agencies.
The release will be followed by a reporting date set for June 11, 2026, when students are expected to resume learning under tightened safety and administrative measures.
School authorities have assured parents that preparations are underway to ensure a smooth transition back to normal academic activities. Counseling services and security assessments are also expected to be part of the reopening process.
The Ministry emphasized that the decision was made to prioritize the safety and well-being of students after the unrest that had raised concerns among stakeholders.
Officials further noted that zero fee balance requirements will be strictly enforced upon return, ensuring that all students resume without financial barriers affecting learning continuity. Parents have been encouraged to comply with school guidelines and prepare learners adequately for the reopening.
The Ministry of Education reiterated its commitment to stabilizing learning in all affected schools across the country, noting that similar interventions may be applied where unrest has disrupted academic calendars.
Studies Resumption
Education officials are expected to monitor compliance and provide additional support to ensure full resumption of studies in line with the national education framework.
The announcement has been welcomed by parents and education stakeholders who now await the smooth return of students as schools work to restore normal operations
Education officials further indicated that a multi-agency team comprising county security officers, teachers’ service representatives, and school board members will continue to assess the institution’s preparedness over the coming days.
The team will also oversee repairs of any damaged facilities and ensure that teaching materials and dormitories meet required safety standards before full academic activities resume without disruption.
Stakeholders urged calm, cooperation, and swift restoration of normal learning nationwide across Kenya.
