KICD Boss Speaks On Grade 9 Transition To Senior School. Charles Ong’ondo, CEO of the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development, has declared that there are no intentions to move Grade 9 to the high school where Senior School is located.
Ong’ondo claims that the Ministry of Education has not announced any plans to transfer the current Grade 8 students in Junior School to High School in 2024.
In an interview with a radio station, Ong’ondo stated that there is no plan to move grade 9 to senior school since the years must coincide with the developmental milestones of the kids who are the learning system’s targets.
Ong’ondo said that the Basic Education structure of CBC is that learners spend full two years in pre-primary, 6 years in Primary, and three years in Junior School, and 3 years in Senior School, hence 2-6-3-3 curriculum.
