JSS Teachers’ Fate Regarding Confirmation Announced. It is becoming apparent that the projected budget cuts may put an end to the hopes of nearly 46,000 JSS intern instructors being hired permanently and receiving pensions.
It is anticipated that the reduction may jeopardize a few important education-related projects. The government has set aside Sh18 billion for the hiring of intern teachers starting in July of this year in this fiscal year.
However, there are uncertainties with the aforementioned plan, which is currently causing additional delays in the hiring of intern instructors.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) had previously intended to provide the interns permanent jobs with pension benefits beginning in January 2025.
But after the numerous demonstrations, the MPs pushed for their confirmation to occur sooner since some teachers had organized protests to demand improved working conditions.
Due to severe budget cuts and the ensuing delays in hiring these intern instructors, hundreds of teachers may return to the streets in protest and demand the promised permanent jobs.
This issue arises during the second week of nationwide anti-government protests that are taking place in schools around the nation. Due to the continuous protests, several schools that were supposed to reopen on Monday and Tuesday have been forced to open earlier.
JSS Teachers’ Fate Regarding Confirmation Announced
This comes after Wednesday was chosen as the new date for the midterm break. Following last week’s increased activity surrounding protests against the Finance Bill 2024, the majority of boarding schools discharged their students early.
Following that, schools in all of the big towns that hosted Tuesday and Thursday demonstrations started requesting kids to stay at home.
Given that the term is getting shorter every time, as has been shown in the past, this circumstance is probably going to have an impact on teaching and learning in many institutions.
Therefore, it is anticipated that the government would set up a system to make it easier for JSS instructors to find employment.
