TSC To Prioritize Promotion Of All Stagnated C4 & C5 Teachers. The Teachers Service Commission normally conducts teacher promotions after some time. The promotions are awarded to teachers who are eligible.
Once teachers are promoted, they earn extra salaries and allowances. This acts as a motivation for them to do their work perfectly with ease.
An agreement to prioritize the promotion of around 30,000 teachers has been struck. It’s between the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and the Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET). Those who have held the same position for longer than seven years fall into the C4 and C5 categories.
Concerns about the stagnation of over 50,000 teachers nationwide has been raised. They have been at a halt for an extended length of time have been voiced by KUPPET.
A meeting with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) was held this month in Naivasha. The union requested that the government provide Sh1 billion to the TSC so that 30,000 teachers—a portion of the 50,000 who have experienced prolonged stagnation—can be promoted right away.
TSC To Prioritize Promotion Of All Stagnated C4 & C5 Teachers
In order to create chances for long-serving teachers currently restricted to Grade C3, Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Secretary-General (SG) Akelo Misori stressed that priority will be given to current C4 and C5 instructors, who will transition to C5 and D1, respectively.
Furthermore, it is reported that 7,400 C4 TSC instructors were not considered for promotions during the 2023–2024 term. This is because they had less than three years of experience in the present grade.
However, after years of stagnation in C3 and the erstwhile Job Group L, KUPPET’s campaigning only made it possible to attain this grade two years ago. For this reason, they too deserve promotion.
