Teachers in Kenya now have another chance to grow in their careers as the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has formally reopened the application window for its 2025 teacher promotion positions. The application deadline has been moved to April 21, 2025.
The commission stated in a statement this week that the re-advertised posts are available at several levels, including as Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) and primary and secondary schools.
This action is a part of TSC’s continuous efforts to strengthen school leadership and recognize professional competence.
At the primary school level, the available promotion positions include Senior Teacher I, Senior Teacher II, Deputy Headteacher II, Headteacher, and Senior Headteacher. In secondary schools, the commission is offering positions such as Senior Master IV, Senior Master III, Deputy Principal III, Deputy Principal II, Principal, Senior Principal, and Chief Principal. In Teacher Training Colleges, various senior leadership positions have also been listed for qualified applicants.
All interested candidates are required to apply through the official TSC online platform at www.teachersonline.go.ke. The application process is entirely digital, and applicants are encouraged to submit their forms early to avoid last-minute delays.
To be eligible for promotion, teachers must have served the required minimum number of years in their current position, provide up-to-date Teacher Performance Appraisal and Development (TPAD) reports, possess the relevant academic and professional qualifications, and meet the integrity and ethical standards outlined in Chapter Six of the Constitution.
Promotion interviews are scheduled to be conducted in May 2025. During the selection process, candidates will be assessed based on their professional experience, performance in TPAD, academic credentials, involvement in co-curricular activities, and contribution to community service.
TSC has also issued a stern warning to all applicants, stressing that the promotion process is free of charge.
Teachers are advised to beware of fraudsters posing as agents or individuals who claim they can influence the outcome of the process in exchange for money.
This re-advertisement presents a valuable second chance for eligible educators who may have missed the earlier call.
Teachers are strongly encouraged to prepare thoroughly, ensure all documents are in order, and submit their applications before the deadline. For more information and updates, applicants should visit the official TSC website or consult the Teachers Updates portal.
