TSC Stops Employment Of P1 Teachers. The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) published a statement. It was addressing the removal of primary school certificate holders as teachers. In addition, it was talking of implementation of a new job requirement: a Diploma in Primary Education.
All of the teachers who were employed with certificates are encouraged to pursue further study, as the commission has said that it will no longer be hiring P1 instructors after 2024.
TSC’s Plan Of Eliminating PTE Certificate
TSC has announced plans to eliminate the PTE certificate as the primary/basic criterion for teaching. This will make it apparent that it will no longer hire P1 teachers for the CBC.
P1 Certificates To Be Replaced With Diplomas
In addition, the P1 certificates will now be replaced with a diploma that adheres to the recently implemented competency-based curriculum (CBC).
To make sure that instructors are competent and intelligent enough to oversee education, TSC has implemented strict measures to ensure that matters pertaining to the teaching profession are handled seriously.
TSC Stops Employment Of P1 Teachers
The TSC has established the minimal standards for all educators working with students in grades 1 through 6. A Diploma in Primary Teacher Education is required in order to work with these kids (DPTE).
The current requirement for anyone wishing to teach at any level is a diploma in education.
The aforementioned adjustments are intended to raise the standard of education in the nation.
If a candidate successfully completes the ECDE, PTE, DTE, BED, DIP ED, and SNE training programs, TSC also accepts post-training upgrade certifications. Following this, the candidate will be certified to teach students in grades 1 through 3. Additionally, grades 4 through 6 will also be there.
Several P1 Teachers Enroll In Colleges
The number of P1 teachers who have enrolled in Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) around the nation for additional education is now recorded by the commission in its databank.
With the commission’s new directives, many P1 teachers’ aspirations have been dashed. They had assumed that they would be hired by TSC without needing to renew their credentials in Primary Teacher Education (PTE).
P1 teachers who meet certain requirements will be given precedence in the upcoming teacher recruitment round by TSC. They are those who have upgraded and earned a diploma
