TSC Sets Training Dates For CBA & CBC Exam Teachers. Training dates for educators who will be administering exams for the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) have been made public by the Teachers Service Commission.
The three phases of the training program are set to begin on May 20 and end on May 30 this year. Retooling the teachers is the goal of the training.
Training of Trainers will be part of the training from May 20–23. Both conventional and special needs education teachers will be a part of this. It will happen at a few locations that will be announced later.
Curriculum Support Officers (CSOs), Teachers Educators from Teachers Training Colleges (TTCs), Quality Assurance and Standards Officers (QASO), and TSC Sub-county Directors (SCDs) are among the participants in the first phase. This is also referred to as trainers of trainers.
The training’s second part is scheduled for May 24–25, 2024. Coordination of sub-county and zonal training will happen at the county and sub-county levels.
Master Trainers, Trainers of Trainers, and County Directors will be among the attendees.
Phase three, the last stage, will occur from May 27 to 30, 2024. During the training, teachers will be retooled and grouped according to subject at designated locations per county.
Teachers of languages, science, math, humanities, and technical topics will be among the attendees.
Face-to-face instruction will be given via a multi-agency approach. A smart cascade model will be used to build teacher capacity.

Through this initiative, the Teacher Service Commission hopes to guarantee that educators are equipped to effectively implement the new curriculum.
On April 25, KNEC Chief Executive Officer David Njengere disclosed that the government organization is nearing completion of preparations for a prototype Grade 9 assessment.
This year’s assessment is scheduled for June. The sample will provide an overview of the Junior School Assessment culminating in October.
In October of this year, the CBC Pioneer class in Grade 8 will complete a test (evaluation) that will serve as a transitional tool for Grade 9 senior secondary school.
