TSC Revised Teacher Promotion Requirements. The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is under pressure to fill the more than 15,000 open positions with principals and head teachers.
Teachers are scheduled to retire.
Remarkably, the same amount is slated to retire at the end of July this year. Deputy Chief Executive Officers, Deputy Principals, Senior Instructors Advanced Masters Many schools also have a very high demand for the aforementioned.
That being said, this problem was brought about by the Commission. This is because TSC has made it more difficult for educators to become administrators of schools.
It is currently difficult for a classroom teacher to function as a school administrator since the Schemes of Service (SoS) were repealed and the Career Progression Guidelines (CPG) were put into effect.
Teachers’ unions Knut and Kuppet are actively pleading with the Commission to loosen the requirements for teachers to hold administrative positions.
For the third time, the teachers’ employer has asked them to apply for positions in senior school management. Dr. Nancy Macharia, the CEO of SC, stated that the organization had not been able to find suitable candidates for the posts after two consecutive ads.
This year’s first and second calls for applications were released in January and March, respectively. The action now highlights the reasons why educators aren’t running to take up positions as head principals, deputy principals, or principals.
There will probably be a rush for the best positions due to the benefits of holding them. Meanwhile, TSC has released a new advertisement in which it once again begs eligible teachers to fill roughly 1,001 positions within the next week.

TSC Updated Requirements for Teacher Promotions.
Dr. Macharia has extended an invitation to interested instructors to apply from July 9 to July 15.
As per Dr. Macharia’s statement, the Commission endeavors to ensure that teachers receive promotions that will acknowledge and incentivize their efforts and performance, position them for career progression and succession planning, and inspire them to excel in their assigned roles.
TSC released a job posting for promotions in January of this year, which led to the promotion of 14,738 teachers to cover vacancies in educational institutions, schools, and other places where teachers were working in temporary capacities.
According to TSC, teachers have not applied for roles that were advertised, so hundreds of schools are still without heads of institutions and deputy heads of institutions despite multiple requests to fill the positions.
Dr. Macharia continued, “The Commission also has a responsibility to provide Institutional Administrators for public educational institutions in order to manage public schools effectively.” Among the institutions impacted are special needs public schools that educate students with disabilities and special needs.
