TSC New Entry Requirements For Teachers. The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has put up fresh proposals regarding subjects that will establish a person’s eligibility to teach or exclude them from entering the field.
The commission states that a person needs to have at least a D+ in mathematics and a C-minus in English in order to be eligible to become a teacher.
Furthermore, this educator needs to have attained at least a C plain in the general category on the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.
TSC has therefore suggested doing away with the Primary Teachers Certificate Training Course, or P1 certificate.
The plan suggestion, however, has prompted a number of responses from interested parties, with TSC noting that the regulations governing the teaching profession are being reviewed and implemented.
TSC New Entry Requirements For Teachers
As a result, TSC suggests a new implementation that would start at the diploma level and only permit admission qualification for teacher training.
Macharia stated that she had met with the deans of all universities that offer teaching education in order to discuss the minimal requirements for registration as part of the procedures to make this plan a reality.
If the plan is approved, it will be extremely difficult for a number of teacher candidates who do not match the aforementioned minimal qualifications to be hired by the commission on a permanent basis.
In the meantime, in order to be eligible for the employment exercise, those who completed their P1 Certificate training but were not hired by the TSC must enroll in an upgrading program for the relevant courses.
