TSC Rectifies Error That Mixed Up Pay For C4 & C5. The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has clarified that the entrance point for Grade C5 is Ksh64,770 and has fixed an error in salary points for teachers who were recently promoted from Grade C4 to C5.
This will take effect the next month, with the teachers who stand to gain being those 36,504 who were just promoted.
The commission acknowledged in an internal document dated August 23, 2024, that many instructors on Grade C4 suffered disadvantages as a result of their promotion from Grade C4 to C5.
This was especially true for those teachers who had received an annual raise on Grade C4 prior to the promotions taking effect on the payroll.
The commission noted that the award of annual increment under C4 salary points was higher than the entry point under Grade C5; that is, Ksh64,527 and Ksh62,272 respectively.

Therefore, by September 20, 2024, all unit heads within the human resource management and development directorate have been required by the commission to make the necessary modifications and submit the exercise report.
The Commission has approved raising the affected teachers’ wage entry points to Ksh64,770 per month in order to rectify this disparity.
The memo stated, “Those teachers will nevertheless adopt incremental months in accordance with the current policy (month of promotion).”
