TSC Posting Letters To Special Schools. In an effort to alleviate the teacher shortage, TSC will provide 6,000 educators with posting letters so they can be assigned to Special Needs Education (SNE) centers.
Teachers who were once affiliated with SNE before relocating to the current normal schools, where professional advancement is almost certain, are among those who will be deployed.
Following a meeting between the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and the Kenya Union of Special Needs Education Teachers (Kusnet), the aforementioned deployment decision was made.
The two organizations reached an agreement that SNE-trained instructors would now return to their high-population special needs schools.
The strategy, in the opinion of Mr. Peter Sitienei, Chairman of Kusnet, is expected to raise standards in special needs institutions.
According to Sitienei, there are presently 300 elementary schools and 38 secondary schools that accommodate students with impairments and special needs.

Sitienei went on to say that in order to focus on students with alternative needs, a number of teachers in special units in regular schools will now be completely detached from their teaching duties and assigned full responsibility.
In order to receive posting letters for redeployment to SNE schools, the chair of Kusnet encouraged all TSC teachers in normal schools across the nation to apply.
The employer of teachers also decided to create a SNE unit at main headquarters, manned by people with expertise in SNE issues.
Both of them agreed that if this proposal is implemented, learning in special education schools will be enhanced since more funding will be provided by the National Assembly Education Committee to SNE.
