TSC Now Allocates One Teacher Per Class For Grade 7. Every junior secondary class has a single teacher designated by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC). Teachers will be assigned to primary schools according to the number of Grade 7 courses each school has.
Around the country, there are 30,550 Grade 7 classes , according to TSC legal officer Cavin Anyuor. The TSC has allocated a single teacher to each class since January.
Anyuor stated, “If the county has 1,000 classes, we have 1,000 teachers assigned to them.” Anyuor further stated that the budget supplied by the Treasury determines the teacher allotment.
The commission will retrain teachers in primary schools, according to TSC chair Jamleck Muturi. He declared, “TSC will redistribute primary school teachers who are qualified to teach in junior secondary.”

JSS, which was first implemented in December 2017 as part of the Competency Based Curriculum, emphasizes learners’ abilities and competences over merely subject knowledge.
Grade 7 serves as a transitional level for students in grades 12 through 14 between primary and secondary education.
There is currently unrest as JSS intern teachers demonstrate in favor of permanent, pensionable employment with TSC.
At the moment, intern instructors are employed under annual contracts.
