TSC Salaries & Allowances For Principals & Deputy Principals. Teachers who work for the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) get salary and benefits, which encourage them to volunteer their services.
It is imperative that educators comprehend their pay scale, benefits, and potential deductions from their income.
We shall examine the pay and benefits of principals and deputy principals who work for TSC under job group D3, T-Scale 13, in this post.
Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for 2021–2025
On August 28, 2023, teachers’ unions, namely the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT), and the Kenya Union of Special Needs Education Teachers (KUSNET), inked an addendum to the 2021–2025 CBA with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
This agreement was a significant step toward resolving the ongoing attempts to raise teacher salaries, which have left teacher unions mute and without a strike threat.
The modification of the pay scale for principals and deputy principals in job group D3 was one of the significant turning points.
Simple Conversions of Salaries
The basic salaries of the principals and deputy have changed significantly from what they were first paid, as can be seen in the table below.

TSC Salaries & Allowances For Principals & Deputy Principals
Hardship Allowances
These Allowances are a portion of the salary that the commission provides to educators who labor in hazardous environments, such as unstable locations. Principals and deputies employed in these regions are compensated with Ksh 31,500.
Commuter Allowance
Teachers receive this stipend to help with transportation costs from their homes to schools and return. This encourages educators to get out of bed and perform their tasks on time.
Ksh 10,000 is the sum that deputies and principals in Grade D3 are entitled to.
Disability Allowance
This allowance is available to educators who work with students who have special needs or teach in special schools. This payment is only available to teachers who have completed special education training.
Teachers in this D3 employment group are eligible for a Ksh 20,000 monthly payment. This is to show our gratitude for their time-consuming work with students who have special needs.
