Additionally, the commission is also in charge of transferring, promoting and even sacking teachers. All issues affecting teachers are handled by the commission.
Teachers normally get allowances on top of salaries. With time, salaries for teachers are increased as per the labor laws. Teachers are anticipating a salary increment in July 2024.
In order to increase their pay, teachers hired on a permanent basis have begun preparations. The preparations are for the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) July 2024 phase 2 Payrise.
The teachers unions and TSC reached a CBA deal. It states that the second stage of the pay increase will take effect in July.

But not all educators will be able to take advantage of this eagerly awaited raise.
TSC claims that not all teachers will profit from the second increment. Beneficiaries are those who were employed by July 2023 and were part of the first phase.
The parliamentary budget committee has given TSC, which is under the Ministry of Education, a sizeable sum of sh 369.94 billion in what looks to be a pledged commitment to education that is awaiting approval.
A portion of the aforementioned funding will be utilized to fully implement the 2021–2025 Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA), which are intended to improve the welfare of teachers.
The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), the Kenya Union of Special Needs Education Teachers (KUSNET), the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT), and the employed teachers signed the agreement.
The first compensation adjustment was implemented on July 1, 2023, and the CBA agreement states that it will culminate on June 30, 2024.
The second and last part of the TSC CBA payrise will start on July 1, 2024, and extend until June 30, 2025, just after that.
When the second phase launches on July 1, 2024, all instructors who were employed on July 1, 2023, will be among those who would receive special treatment.
