The Teachers Service Commission has started a new rule that will allow all teachers to get promoted automatically every three years.
This means teachers will no longer need to do interviews to get promoted in certain job groups.
TSC said the automatic promotion will help teachers grow in their careers based on how long they have worked and how well they perform.
The new rule will apply to teachers who have a P1 certificate, diploma, or degree in education.
How the Promotion Will Work:
1.Teachers with a P1 certificate who are in Grade B5 will move to Grade C1 after 3 years.
2.Teachers in Grade C1 will be promoted to Grade C2 after 3 years.
3.Degree holders in Grade C2 will move to Grade C3 after 3 years.
TSC explained that this new way of promoting teachers will allow them to be rewarded for their work without going through stressful interviews. Instead, teachers will be observed and assessed while doing their jobs.
The commission also said that the recruitment of new teachers will follow clear rules, looking at factors like: Professional qualifications, age of the teacher, how long ago they graduated, and whether they have done the CBC upgrade training.
TSC will share available job openings on their website and in newspapers. These jobs will be shared fairly across all 47 counties to ensure every school gets enough teachers.
