TSC New Hardship Allowances Per Grade. Depending on their job category and years of service, Teachers Service Commission (TSC) employees are eligible for a variety of benefits, one of which is a special hardship stipend.
Teachers’ hardship payment, a unique stipend available solely to individuals employed in designated hardship zones, is paid by TSC.
These teachers receive an allowance because their work environments have been deemed challenging; the funds help to offset their high living costs.
Teachers working in these challenging areas face a range of challenges, such as a scarcity of water, recurrent floods, and unfavorable living conditions brought on by criminal attacks.
The TSC hardship stipend is distributed differently among groups or teacher grades; instructors who were employed more recently receive a smaller benefit than those who have served longer.
TSC New Hardship Allowances Per Grade
Decentralization of resources has led to a notable increase in the provision of social facilities and all-weather roads in certain locations. However, this has also resulted in the modification of certain places and the loss of others.
After reviewing the hardship allowance in December 2014, the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) decided to set a fixed amount for all comparable grades and work categories. The Commission later reversed this decision.
After the review, the largest allowance—38,100 shillings—is currently given to people in administrative positions, especially those in Job category D5, which includes chief principal positions.
TSC states that a number of areas deemed challenging are those that are susceptible to;
- terrorism
- starvation
- aridity among others.
There were 38 designated hardship zones, under which teachers employed by schools in these counties are entitled to receive hardship pay on a monthly basis.
It’s also important to remember that the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) is now reviewing the hardship allowances provided to teachers in different counties.
