However, a considerable number of Saccos have yet to credit teachers’ accounts for their June salaries.
In contrast to previous years, this year’s June salaries were delayed, and teachers were upset while waiting for them.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) normally pays teachers’ compensation by June 20th. Teachers received compensation as early as June 18th.
This is due to the fact that the government’s fiscal year ends in June. Teachers’ reactions this week are the result of a ksh 200 decrease on their June pay stubs.
TSC has not yet issued a statement on this disappearance. However, sources close to the Commission maintain that this was an error and that the funds withheld will be reimbursed.

Some educators speculated that this was a repetition of the Kenya Women Teachers Association’s (Kewota) deductions, which led in a loss of sh 200 from both male and female teachers’ pay stubs to a union they never joined.
There have been instances in the past when instructors’ monthly pay stubs were short a few penny. Teachers have repeatedly claimed discrepancies in net compensation.
TSC once discovered a group of payroll staff who were taking money from teachers’ pay stubs without authority and had to be transferred to another department.
We hope that the Commission would address this problem in a straightforward and concise manner to relieve teachers’ fears, especially during this time of economic difficulty typified by rising inflation and diminishing salary.
