TSC Crucial Update On Early Retirement For Teachers. All instructors are required by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to retire at the age of sixty, or sixty-five for teachers with disabilities; however, they are free to retire earlier.
Teachers who may like to leave the commission may also choose to retire earlier. A teacher may choose to retire prematurely after ten years of employment.
Simultaneously, TSC permits instructors who reach the age of 50 and beyond, if they so want, to retire earlier.
The legislative committee’s most recent action is to investigate lowering the required retirement age from 60 to 55 years old. The intention is to provide youth with a chance to work in the public sector.
If a law that has been presented to lower the retirement age passes parliament, teachers and civil servants will now be eligible for retirement at age 55.
Teachers who wish to pursue a higher retirement age must apply in writing to the institution’s head, providing three months’ notice and specifying when they plan to retire.
