TSC Clarifies Reports Of Appointment Of New CEO. The Teachers Service Commission has denied claims made on social media that Cheptumo Ayabei is the new CEO of the company (TSC).
In a statement on social media on Tuesday, May 28, TSC flagged the accusations as false. Currently serving as TSC’s CEO is Nancy Macharia, who was chosen in 2015 to take over as Gabriel Lengoiboni’s successor for a five-year renewable term.
She was given a five-year extension in 2020, therefore she will stay in her role as CEO of TSC until 2025.
Ayabei, on the other hand, is the director of finance for the commission. After starting up as a financial officer in 1999, he worked his way up to become director of finance at TSC.
The TSC Act of 2012 stipulates that the commission’s CEO must be appointed through a competitive process, which means a post opening must have been announced.

Part of the act states, “The appointment of the Secretary to the Commission under Article 250 (12) of the Constitution shall be through a competitive recruitment process.”
The CEO of the TSC is in charge of carrying out Commission decisions in addition to overseeing the Secretariat and acting as the Commission’s accountant and record keeper.
Tasks and supervision must be given to the Commission’s employees; the Commission’s mandate must be supported, coordinated, and ensured to be carried out; and employees must be held responsible for adhering to public morals and values.
