TSC Circular On Redeployment Of Teachers To JSS. In order to temporarily reassign qualified and available secondary school teachers to Junior Secondary Schools (JSS), the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is searching for these teachers.
All TSC regional and county directors are instructed to conduct a thorough evaluation of secondary school teachers who are waiting to be transferred or swapped within their respective regions in a memo dated July 19 from the office of TSC Secretary and Chief Executive Dr. Nancy Macharia.
Finding capable and willing educators who can be temporarily redeployed to Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) while their requests for transfers or swaps are being handled is the aim.
This initiative aims to address the critical teacher shortage in JSS and ensure continuous learning in the institutions.
“It has come to our attention that a significant number of teachers in secondary schools have applied for transfers or swaps and are currently awaiting placement.
While their requests are being processed, the ongoing teacher shortage in Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) presents a critical challenge to the effective implementation of the Competency-Based-Curriculum (CBC),” reads the memo.
“To address this issue and optimize the utilization of available human resources, I hereby direct all Regional County Directors and Country Directors, TSC, to undertake a comprehensive review of teachers awaiting transfer or swap within their respective jurisdictions.”
TSC Circular On Redeployment Of Teachers To JSS
To ensure a smooth redeployment of teachers to JSS, the TSC asks its directors to follow these guidelines in carrying out the directives:
Identify eligible teachers, consult and engage with them, coordinate and collaborate with relevant departments, and monitor and evaluate the redeployment process’s implementation.
Finding capable and willing educators who can be temporarily redeployed to JSS until their requests for transfers or swaps are fulfilled is the aim of this effort.
This calculated action will guarantee that our children continue to learn while also mitigating JSS’s severe teacher shortage.
By August 8, 2024, the implementation process reports must be sent in.
