TSC Automatic Promotions For Teachers Not Promoted In 7 Years. A deal has been struck between the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet). This will result in promotions for over 30,000 teachers who had been stagnant for more than seven years.
This was agreed following a six-day meeting at Sawela Lodge in Naivasha between Kuppet and the commission.
It’s interesting to note that notable TSC representatives were oddly absent from the Kuppet National Executive Committee’s press briefing.
In the upcoming fiscal year, 30,000 of the 50,000 teachers who had been stagnant for years will obtain automatic promotions. This is according to Kuppet National Chairman Milemba Omboko.
Omboko stressed that since most instructors had not been promoted since 2017, the Naivasha meeting had determined to address the matter beginning in June.

Misori stated that the union was happy that more than 50,000 teachers had just been promoted. This is because an audit had shown that only 14 cases had problems.
Omboko added that the Commission had clarified the situation for the 14 instructors who got the promotion in spite of not being paid. He addressed their worries about the promotion of teachers who weren’t on the payroll.
Speaking to reporters, he stated, “The Commission will seek an allocation of Sh1 billion for the promotion of 30,000 teachers who have stagnated for years.”
According to Misori, TSC and the Department of Pensions were working together to speed up the teacher pension application procedure.
