Teachers Threaten To Down Tools. After the county government failed to modify their job terms and review their monthly salary, a number of Homa Bay early childhood education teachers threatened to take down their tools.
These teachers have now declared a three-day strike and promised to hold protests after tomorrow.
The police and the Department of Education have been informed of the planned demonstrations to take root, according to representatives of the Kenya Union of Pre-Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet).
In remarks to the media, Edna Ochanda, Mr. Bernard Ouma, the secretary, and Chairman Michael Odera stated that 898 teachers are requesting improved terms of service.

According to the reports from the authorities, the county reviewed their contracts lower on the advice of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
The representatives went on to say that SRC made recommendations following the teachers’ signing of long-term, pensionable contracts with previous county governor Cyprian Awiti.
Odera stated that the terms were instead repealed and placed under contract by the current administration.
