TSC To Confirm 26000 Interns In July. Teachers Service Commission (TSC) will certify 26,000 JSS teacher interns on a permanent and pensionable basis when the fiscal year starts in July 2024.
The people who enlisted in the military in February 2023 will receive priority. 21,550 teachers were hired as junior school interns during this time, while 4,000 teachers were hired as primary school interns.
An additional 450 intern teachers were added for secondary schools later in April 2023 and assigned to other schools.
Then, in September 2023, 2,000 more primary school interns and 18,000 more junior school interns will be hired. According to a statement issued following a Parliamentary Group, the finances available are sufficient for 26,000 interns, notwithstanding the continued financial crisis.
TSC To Confirm 26000 Interns In July
The funding for all 46,000 JSS teachers undergoing internships was formerly allocated KSh18 billion; however, it is anticipated that this amount will be lowered to KSh 13 billion.
In an apparent attempt to solve the teacher shortage, TSC has also disclosed plans to hire 20,000 more interns before the end of this month.
There will be 2,000 interns from elementary schools and 18,000 from junior schools among the new hires. The beneficiaries of the pensions will also include the interns who will now be moving into permanent roles.
The expected cost to the teacher employer to transition intern jobs into full-time employment for the first cohort of 26,000 instructors is Sh6.6 billion.
Teachers interning at junior secondary schools will join the C2 job once confirmed. For teachers employed in Nairobi, the monthly housing allowance is KES 16, 500; for those employed in other locations deemed remote, it is KES 7, 500.
