Phase 2 CBA Payrise Winners And Losers. Some educators are not happy with the payment rates after the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) recently announced the allocation and approval on CBA approval adjustments to salaries Payrise.
Instructors have seen that while some individuals have benefited from the first phase of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between TSC and the unions, some will leave nearly unadjusted.
Some teachers will see a rise in their monthly compensation after the CBA is fully implemented, while others—especially those in certain pay grades—are probably not going to see any pay increases.
The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT),the Kenya Union of Special Needs Education Teachers (KUSNET), and Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) have been pushing TSC to act upon signed the agreement.
Following TSC announcement on the implementation of CBA which will be backdated to July, this is the anticipated pay rates to teachers are as follows
Major CBA beneficiaries and losers
TSC teachers more especially those in Grades C4 and C5 are likely to see no change in their salaries, which are expected to remain at Sh. 52,308 and sh. 62,272 respectively.
The other category of teachers are those in Grades D4 and D5 who will also continue to earn SH 114,242 and SH 131,380 without any increase.
On the other hand , TSC teachers in other grades are likely to experience salary increase as follows:
Teachers in Grade B5: Previous SH 21,756 to SH 23,830, an increment of about sh 2,074
Teachers in Grade C1: Previous earning SH 27,195, to get SH 29,797,an increment of SH 2,592
Teachers in Grade C2: who were getting between 34,995 and now to get 38,286, will have an increment of SH 3,291
Teachers in Grade C3:who were earning SH 43,154,and now to get SH 45,671, will get an increment of SH 2,517
Teachers in Grade D1 who were Previously getting SH 77,840, will move to SH 78,625, which is an Increment of SH 785
Those in Grade D2 who were receiving SH 91,041,will earn SH 92,496, an increment of SH 1,455
Those in Grade D3:to move from SH 104,644, to SH 106,043 an increment of SH 1,399.
While some instructors feel ignored by the current CBA period, others have expressed mixed feelings about the payment disparities in compensation changes mentioned above.
It is noteworthy, although, that numerous instructors have benefited monetarily from CBA.
The teaching workforce is largely unhappy as a result of the unequal distribution of pay increases.
