Machogu’s Stern Warning To School Principals. Principals of secondary schools received a strong warning from Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu not to try to increase secondary school fees.
During the Lenana School’s Form One Placement Launch on Monday, December 18, Machogu stressed that school principals are not allowed to raise tuition. He voiced concern about adding to the already difficult financial situation many parents are already in by raising school fees.
In his remarks, Machogu said that in 2024, the boarding prices for public secondary schools would not alter. He made it clear that no fee increases should take place without his office’s express agreement and that any attempts to do so would be reported.
Machogu underscored the importance of transparency and warned against any dubious actions, asserting that information about such practices would come to light.
Machogu’s Stern Warning To School Principals
He empathized with parents facing financial hardships and conveyed a clear message to principals that they would face consequences if fees were increased without proper approval.
Delegating responsibility, Machogu charged Regional and County Directors of Education with ensuring the strict implementation of the directive across all schools. This move aimed to uphold fairness and prevent undue financial strain on parents.
