List Of Newly Banned Degree Courses TSC Will Not Employ. Teaching is a noble profession. Teachers are highly regarded as pillars in the community. This is because they shape the future generation. The future generation lies in the kids who are in school currently.
Teachers are employed by a body called the Teachers Service Commission. They are employed upon being qualified. The commission can employ a teacher who has either done a degree in education, diploma or a certificate.
TSC To Scrap P1 Qualifications
However, the commission is having plans of doing away with the certificate course and set the minimum requirement to be a teacher at a diploma.
Recently, the Teachers Service Commission published guidelines for those seeking to enter the teaching profession. There are some courses that the commission banned from being employed. This is because they lacked the teaching methodologies that are necessary for any teacher
This move is meant to ensure that teachers are well equipped with skills and necessary knowledge in better provision of knowledge to learners.

“Applicants for registration whose training is in subjects that are currently NOT in the curriculum do not qualify, irrespective of having undertaken a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) and Enhancement,” read part of the guidelines for registration of new teachers.
Additionally, those who did a PGDE with such courses are not eligible to apply for any teaching position in the country.
As per the TSC guidelines, these programs provide insufficient subject content. Therefore, the mastery of the content in two teaching subjects is not as adequate as required.
However, according to the commission, persons with a bachelor’s degree in science or arts, a post-graduate diploma in education (PGDE), and two teaching topics are eligible for registration.
