Of these, 220,684 were assigned to degree programs at public colleges, and 57, 322 will attend private universities, according to Agnes Mercy Wahome, CEO of the placement board.
While the Ministry of Education (MoE) oversees 733,063 TVET institutes, approximately 17,005 others meet the prerequisites to enrol in TVET programs offered by universities.
19,752 students were enrolled in TVET programs run by organizations outside the Ministry of Education. 11,598 more students will seek diplomas in elementary teacher education than in senior teacher education, with 2,210 students pursuing those in the latter field.
Meanwhile, 17,172 students will enroll in the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) across its 71 sites around the country.

According to Dr. Wahome, of the applications that the placement board received from students who met the minimal university entrance grade of C+, 76.2% chose degree programs and the remaining percentage chose diplomas.
“Male applicants continued to dominate placement to degree programs, continuing a trend that has been observed since the beginning of the central placement system,” the speaker said. “Bachelor of Education attracted the highest number of applicants.”
On the other hand, since 2020, most students placed in TVET institutes have been female.
According to CUP, 278k students were chosen for university, making education the most popular degree (n342603).
