The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has revealed several issues that have hampered the payment of some examiners who administered the 2024 national examinations.
KNEC released a statement on Wednesday, March 12, indicating that a name mismatch was one of the key issues affecting payment disbursement.
According to the council, some examiners’ names in the Contracted Professionals System (CP2) did not match the M-Pesa name associated with the phone number provided, leading to errors.
In its statement, KNEC urged affected examiners to create a new CP2 account with a registered Safaricom (M-Pesa) number that matches the details on their identity cards
The CP2 (Contracted Professionals System) is an online portal used by KNEC to register and manage examiners, invigilators, and supervisors involved in exam administration.
Secondly, KNEC also revealed that missing ID numbers or TSC numbers of the examiners had prevented them from receiving their payments.
According to KNEC, this issue can be resolved by examiners logging onto the CP2 portal and updating their details with the correct information.
Thirdly, missing documentation also affected KNEC’s disbursement of payments to some examiners. The council noted that some attendance registers lacked crucial elements such as official stamps and signatures, making them difficult to authenticate.
To address this issue, KNEC has urged centre managers to download attendance registers from the CP2 portal and verify their details before signing and stamping the documents. The documents must then be presented to the Sub-County Director of Education (SCDE), who will forward them to KNEC.
“Include the following: the year invigilated or supervised, the exam invigilated or supervised, the code of the centre invigilated or supervised, the name of the officer, the role in the exam/assessment centre, and a Safaricom M-Pesa number that matches your ID details,” the council stated.
Finally, another challenge that emerged which hampered payment of some examiners was the fact that sections worked during the examination period but were not deployed in the CP2 portal.
Aggrieved examiners have also been urged to respond swiftly to KNEC’s requests for data to facilitate payment processing
