19th June, 2025
TO: All Heads of Institutions Presenting Candidates for the 2025 KPSEA and KJSEA
SUBJECT: ACCESSING KJSEA SAMPLE PAPERS; RUBRICS AND ANSWER SHEETS FOR 2025 KPSEA AND KJSEA
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) wishes to bring the following information to the attention of Heads of Institutions (Hols) presenting candidates for the 2025 Kenya Primary School Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Junior Secondary Assessment (KJSEA):
1.0 Access to KJSEA sample papers from the KNEC website:
In accordance with the prescribed standards and best practice in educational assessment, KNEC uploaded sample papers for the inaugural Kenya Junior Secondary Assessment (KJSEA) in 20th January, 2025.
The sample papers, which are developed and disseminated by KNEC for free through the KNEC website, are designed in the format to be used for the KJSEA to be administered in October, 2025.
The aim of availing the samples is to facilitate Junior Schools with access to the papers for their use in familiarising KJSEA candidates with the format of the question papers and the instructions for each subject.
2.0 Access to sample rubrics and OMR answer sheets for KPSEA and KJSEA from the KNEC website:
KNEC wishes to inform you that the design of the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) answer sheets for both KPSEA and KJSEA has been reviewed for 2025.
In this regard, candidates will be expected to shade their responses, unlike in the past, when they would be required to draw lines.
KNEC has uploaded sample OMR sheets and rubrics (instructions) for KPSEA and KJSEA on its website.
The KJSEA sample papers; sample OMR answer sheets; and sample rubrics for KPSEA and KJSEA can be accessed through the following simple steps:
2.1 Access the CBA Portal using the link: https://cba.knec.ac.ke.
2.2 Log in using your Assessment Centre credentials (Username and Password).

Centre Managers are reminded to ensure security of their portals by always logging out once done, and keeping their log-in credentials confidential to prevent unauthorised access to confidential data.
Heads of Institutions are hereby instructed to expose their KPSEA and KJSEA candidates to the samples with immediate effect to facilitate adequate preparations for the assessment.
The candidates should be allowed to practise shading in the circles as much as possible, for effective scoring of their answer sheets.
