Good News As TSC Stops Sacco Deductions For These Teachers. In response to grave concerns, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has suspended all Sacco deductions for educators employed in Bungoma County.
This move was disclosed by TSC CEO Nancy Macharia to the Senate Trade Committee during their meeting.
The TSC took the move that was disclosed on March 26 of this year. It was in response to its officers being called before the Senate to provide direction on a statement that Bungoma Senator Honorable David Wakoli had requested be made regarding matters pertaining to the deductions from teachers.
The senator from Bungoma had requested to disappear along with the explanations for the deductions made from the teachers’ salaries. They were intended for a sacco who was suspected of embezzling Ksh12 billion in finances.
In response, the TSC chief informed the Senate Trade Committee that the employer of teachers only directs the TSC to suspend deductions once an application has been submitted.
Good News As TSC Stops Sacco Deductions For These Teachers
Macharia informed the Senate that the Sacco had stopped making monthly withdrawals for 1,165 teachers in Bungoma County.
Prior to this, Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah had requested that the TSC stop the remissions. He cited several teachers‘ withdrawal from the Sacco, which is on the verge of collapse.
Since the salary and other funds belonged to the teachers , Omtatah had demanded that they be protected.
It is reported that this teachers’ organization started experiencing issues three years ago. This was after a few of its members noticed they were unable to withdraw any money from their accounts.
Even worse, it is said that these teachers’ loan requests were turned down even though they had open accounts with the Sacco.
It is now a sigh of relief to these teachers as their grievances have been fully sorted.
