Fate Of Teachers Who Applied For Promotions Revealed. The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has declared what would happen to thousands of educators around the country who are waiting for promotions in 2024.
According to the commission, these instructors won’t be able to grow as quickly as expected.
Only 11,231 of the 28,681 teachers who requested promotions last year were promoted successful by the commission, according to a TSC research.
This suggests that the subsequent promotion cycle won’t begin until 2025, for the 17,450 instructors who are still employed.
Teacher promotions happen once every three years, according to TSC.
Furthermore, TSC operates closely with the guidance of its 2022/2023 Annual Report, which provides a thorough evaluation of the commission’s activities.
The report also includes a summary of the major accomplishments, a number of difficulties encountered, a number of newly identified problems, and suggested solutions for the time frame.
As detailed in this report, the commission employed 26,000 teachers as interns, of which 4,000 worked in primary schools and 22,000 in junior schools, in addition to hiring 15,000 instructors on permanent, pensionable conditions.
Fate Of Teachers Who Applied For Promotions Revealed
In order to address the teacher shortage brought on by the complete implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and the 100% transfer of primary students to secondary schools, the commission hired the greatest number of teachers this year.
According to TSC Boss, the addition of new instructors increased the total number of teachers on the TSC registry to 364,258. She went on to say that 8,367 elementary school teachers had been transferred to JSS.
229,000 primary school teachers and an additional 55,125 teachers at junior secondary schools (JSS) for CBC have received retraining from the teachers’ employer thus far.
The research also demonstrates that low ICT integration in teaching and learning is caused by staffing shortages and inadequate infrastructure, in addition to the fact that teachers’ mental health problems have been reported and are being addressed by the commission.
Many educators are now awaiting word on the outcomes of the TSC promotion interviews that were held in December 2023 or January 2024.
