CBC Training Of Teachers Announced. Early Childhood Education teachers drawn from Marsabit county started their CBC training officially on Monday 30th October, 2023. This was done under collaboration of Directorate of Education Marsabit county and World Vision. The purpose of this training is to equip teachers with skills that will see them ready to implement the competency based curriculum.

The training is crucial for the ECDE teachers as they are the educational foundation of the young kids. Once fully equipped with the skills, the competency based curriculum will be a great success.

Opening of the CBC training.

The official training was officially opened at St Paul Hall in Moyale. Qabale Adhi Bulbul, the chief officer of education asserted that the governor, Honorable Mohamed Ali is committed to ensure early childhood education is provided on all parts of the county.

In addition to that, the chief officer also confirmed that the county government will establish a fully fledged ECDE center. This will act a great deal in supporting different learning approaches for the ECDE learners in the county.

On top of that, the chief officer stressed that this CBC training for the ECDE teachers is of great importance. This is because a good number of the teachers are not yet conversant with the CBC curriculum.

Number of ECDE teachers being trained

This important training has brought a total of 99 teachers across 4 wards that are within Moyale constituency. No ECDE teacher should miss this training as it will fully give a clear understanding of the CBC curriculum  and framework. It will also fully analyze the seven core competencies in the Basic Education Curriculum Framework( BECF).

This training is also expected to give a clear overview of the teaching and learning methodologies under CBC. Additionally, it will aid in development of the ability to nurture every learner’s potential.

During a study of the quality of early childhood education in the county, it was established that there was a huge gap. This is according to the chief officer. As a result, the county opted to look for partners to train the ECDE teachers and ensure CBC curriculum is fully understood.
