Automatic Promotion Of Teachers. The Teachers Service Commission has hinted on plans to introduce automatic promotion of it’s teachers. This was after teachers cried foul over stagnation in their job groups for quite a long time. Implementation of this idea will be a dream come true for thousands of educators across the country.
Stagnation in job groups has demotivated teachers. Most teachers have put much dedication to their jobs but have failed to earn Promotions. The automatic promotion policy will act as a motivating factor for the educators.
The Teachers Service Commission asserts that’s it’s prudent teachers earn promotions from one job group to another. The promotions should be automated instead of subjecting the teachers to interviews.
Additionally, the Salaries of the teachers should also increase once the promotions are effected as promotion without salary increment won’t work well.
The commission is having such plans of introducing automatic promotion over a prolonged period of time.

The kenya women Teachers association has evaluated the criteria for teacher promotions and has heavily criticized it. Therefore, in that regard, it has come up with solutions to this emanating problem. If this remedy is adopted, then it will be a win for the Kenyan teachers.
KEWOTA’s view on automatic promotion policy
According to KEWOTA, the automatic promotion policy will motivate teachers. This will in turn make them work extra harder and achieve more when working with the learners.
At the moment, teachers are promoted based on a policy that was introduced by the Teachers Service Commission. The commission introduced career progression guidelines that is being used up to date to determine teacher Promotions from one job cadre to the other.
The policy states that a teacher has to stay for a minimum of three years in a specific job grade before being qualified for promotion to the next job grade.
Additionally, for any teacher to be promoted, they must be fully compliant with the Teacher professional and Appraisal documents.
Introduction of the automated promotion ms, once effected will be a major step going forward for the kenyan Teachers.
