The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) announced that primary school teachers will be placed in junior secondary schools.
The decision is in line with the government’s commitment to enhance the educational system and ensure a seamless transition from elementary to junior secondary education, the commission said in a statement issued on Monday, January 13.
Teachers who are qualified and interested have therefore been told to apply for the open posts.
The message said, in part, that “The Commission invites applications for deployment of primary school teachers to junior secondary school.”
TSC Details Eligibility and Requirements
To qualify for the deployment, applicants must meet the following requirements:
They must be currently employed by the commission and serving as primary school teachers.
Further, they must have attained a minimum Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade of C+, with at least a C+ in each of the two teaching subjects.
An equivalent qualification to the KCSE grade is also allowed.
For age, applicants must fall within the TSC age guidelines for deployment to the junior schools.
“Only teachers serving under P and P in public primary schools who meet requisite qualifications are encouraged to apply,” the commission notes.
How to Apply
Interested teachers can apply through the TSC online portal here.
The application process requires teachers to provide proof of their academic qualifications, teaching subjects, and service records.
To access the portal, applicants will require their TSC number, and their ID number, and include their surname and confirm whether they are interested in the deployment or not.
Also, the commission has emphasized that only qualified teachers will be considered for deployment, with priority given to those who meet the academic and professional criteria.
The TSC has indicated that more details about the deployment process, including deadlines and specific application procedures, will be available on their website.
Therefore, teachers who meet the required criteria are encouraged to apply early to avoid missing out on this opportunity.
This development comes at a time when the government is working towards ensuring that the implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) remains on track, especially in junior secondary schools.
