2024-2025 TSC CBA Allowances Per Job Group. The Teacher Service Commission (TSC) modifies teacher allowance rates on a regular basis. Allowances are updated to reflect the most recent Job Group (Grade) following a TSC promotion.
TSC provides teachers with a variety of allowance alternatives. Teachers receive stipends in addition to their monthly salaries.
2024 TSC allowances are established by a variety of factors, including the workstation, each teacher’s job grade, tasks, and the types of children they work with.
While most allowances are paid monthly, others are not. TSC pays a variety of allowances, which are explained in detail here.
Paying stipends.
There are two sorts of remunerated allowances:
Automatic

House Allowance
Every teacher receives a monthly house allowance. It is compensated based on two criteria: job grade and workstation.
Teachers in higher job groups receive a larger housing stipend than those in lower cadres.
2024-2025 TSC CBA Allowances Per Job Group
Responsibility Allowance.
This is paid to Head Teachers, Deputy Head Teachers, and Senior Teachers in Job Groups K and below.
Special Duty Allowance.
This is payable to teachers below job category M who are appointed to administrative positions by the commission and deployed in arid and semi-arid regions.
Reader’s allowance.
This payment is made to a visually impaired instructor who has hired a reader with a minimum certification of KCSE D+/KCE Division III.
The allowance is paid at a fixed rate that the commission sets from time to time. The reader’s allowance, also known as the facilitation or aid allowance, pays Sh15,000 per month to blind teachers and those who are restricted to wheelchairs due to their handicap.
Interpreters’ Allowance.
This is payable to deaf teachers who use interpreters while on study leave.
Special School Allowance –
This is paid to teachers who specialize in special needs education and have been assigned to specific schools or units.
Transfer Allowance.
This is payable to teachers who are transferred from one workstation to another, provided the Commission initiates the transfer. It is the same as a teacher’s base pay for one month.
Reimbursable expenses.
The commission reimburses the following expenses for teachers:
Travel expenses:
The teacher is only eligible for remuneration under the following circumstances: Where a teacher’s interdiction has been lifted. While traveling to attend an interview.
Traveling to a station on the first posting outside the home district. Traveling from a duty position beyond the home district after retirement.
Teachers working in difficult places commute to and from home during school breaks. The teacher’s home district must be located outside the hardship area.
Teachers should apply using the prescribed forms and submit supporting documentation.
Quota per diem.
This is a daily sustenance allowance provided to instructors on official assignments. The application must be submitted at least 14 days before travel.
