TSC To Pay These Teachers Their Withheld Allowances. Following a meeting between the Departmental Committee on Education and the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), head teachers, principals, and acting deputies are among the primary categories affected by TSC’s lack of pay.
Honorable Julius Melly, a Tinderet member of parliament and chair of the education committee, told TSC that he was gravely concerned about the long-term stagnation of many teachers in the same post for years.
Arrears in allowances have been demanded, and educators have been known to put in long hours.
Melly pointed out that it becomes a serious problem when professors perform in acting roles for more than a year.
Sadly, a lot of teachers get themselves in this predicament over an extended length of time.
Melly has therefore pleaded with the instructors Service Commission (TSC) to take these instructors’ permanent appointment into consideration.
However, TSC was questioned by the honorable Malulu Injendi, the vice chairperson of the committee, over why acting teachers are not paid for their extra duties.
The head of TSC, Dr. Macharia, responded to the concerns expressed by acknowledging that TSC had indeed assigned administrators to schools in acting capacities, but that the reason for nonpayment was due to financial constraints.

Dr. Macharia stressed that a number of factors, including the availability of funds, are crucial for teacher promotions.
In an effort to bolster her viewpoint, Macharia underlined that the Commission has repeatedly requested financial support from the government for their promotion process.
However, the necessary funding has not been made available because of the current financial issues.
During the same meeting, Macharia announced that the TSC had started to negotiate with the Salary and Remuneration Commission to get authorization to pay the arrears on Special Duty Allowances owed by these teachers.
The policy indicated above endeavors to provide educators who serve in acting roles with equitable compensation.
