TSC Schedule On Retooling Of P1 Teachers. P1 instructors who graduated before 2019 and are not employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) reportedly began a nine-month upgrading program in 2019 in order to improve their P1 Certificates to a Diploma Level.
TSC emphasized that, in an effort to promote diversity and anti-discrimination, they nevertheless employ educators with P1 certificates who have not applied for a diploma upgrade.
These educators complete an extensive retraining program after being employed, which gives them the tools they need to successfully implement the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
When asked if TSC will offer P1 certificate holders the upper hand in hiring new instructors after they reach the Diploma level, the commission stated that it is an equal opportunity employer and that it abides by regulatory requirements.

They have created Recruitment Guidelines to guarantee that the hiring procedure is carried out legally and preserves the liberties and rights outlined in the Constitution.
These criteria list the competencies and skill sets required for recruiting. In compliance with these recruitment guidelines, TSC has also developed a Recruitment Score Card.
This scorecard considers all pertinent factors, such as age, time since teacher certification, CBC upgrade, and professional credentials.
On an example scorecard that the commission provides, teachers who have completed the diploma upgrade program receive higher grades.
