TSC Teachers To Be Promoted After 6 Months In A Job Group. After the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) revealed plans to shorten the duration of stay in a specific grade to six months, stagnant teachers have every cause to be happy.
The news is made in advance of the promotion of 45,000 teachers whose advertisement will be released at any moment.
This suggests that even recently promoted teachers will be eligible to advance to the next grade if they have been in the new grade for at least six months.
TSC Commissioner Dr. Nichodemus Anyang said the action is intended to encourage more teachers to apply for the upcoming promotions during a breakfast meeting with Busia teachers traveling to Kisumu for their Fun Day on Saturday at the Suddex Hotel in Busia.
The norm for teachers to get promoted was after serving for three years. The Teachers Service Commission has given waivers and reduced the duration to six months,” he said.
Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Busia branch Executive Secretary Okisai Moffats welcomed the move encouraging teachers to apply en masse.
Okisai demanded for an objective scoresheet that will not be biased against teachers.
TSC Teachers To Be Promoted After 6 Months In A Job Group
The three-year rule disenfranchised many teachers as most of them failed to be shortlisted even after completing the three years of service.
The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) has been protesting the stagnation of teachers, arguing that even with introduction of Career Progression Guidelines (CPG) for teachers the issue had not been addressed.
KNUT has even been calling on TSC to revert to the system of scheme of service for promotions.
