Classroom teachers eagerly await the Teachers Service Commission’s (TSC) announcement of the promotion openings for the fiscal year 2024–2025.
Dr. Nancy Macharia, the CEO of the Commission, had alluded to widespread teacher promotions at the conclusion of this year.
TSC CEO Dr. Nancy Macharia stated that the Commission has set aside Sh1 billion for teacher advancement this fiscal year while overseeing the KCSE 2024 tests.
Applications for the 5,690 promotion positions for school administrators that TSC has previously posted must be submitted by November 18, 2024.
TSC has posted job openings for headteacher, deputy headteacher, principle, and deputy principal roles.

The Commission will on December advertise other thousands of promotion vacancies for classroom teachers. This will mostly touch teachers in grades C1 and C2.
Last year TSC advertised a total of 36,505 promotion slots for primary and post primary school teachers at a cost of sh 1 billion.
The Commission received close to two hundred thousands applications from teachers
This year TSC has also been allocated similar funds for promoting teachers across all cadres.
Speaking during supervision of KCSE 2024 exams, TSC CEO Dr. Nancy Macharia said the Commission has been allocated sh. 1 billion for promotion of teachers in December.
Of the 36,505 vacancies advertised in September last year, 17,914 were for primary school teachers.
The interviews for primary school teachers were done from 4th to 15th December 2023.
Secondary school teachers and Teacher Training College (TTC) tutors had their interviews running from 3rd to 16th January 2024.
However many teachers criticized last years promotion interviews claiming they were marred with corruption and lacked merit.
The application for promotion will be done online after which a list of shortlisted candidates will be released.
Interview dates will be issued for candidates who will also be required to appear with the following documents during the exercise.
1) Original National ID Card
2) Original Academic and Professional Certificates
3) Letter of appointment to the current Grade
4) Letter of appointment to the current post (where applicable)
5) Analysed individual subject results in KCPE/KCSE Examinations for the last three years, certified by TSC County Directors/Sub County Directors.
6) Performance Appraisal Reports for the last three years
7) Any other relevant testimonials supporting your performance
