Category Of Teachers To Benefit From TSC Salary Increment. Those who were employed as of July 1, 2023, will benefit from the Teachers Service Commission‘s (TSC) planned implementation of phase 2 of the teacher salary increase, which is scheduled to begin in July 2024.
Following an agreement disclosed by Kiharu Member of Parliament, Honorable Ndindi Nyoro, at the announcement of the 2024–2025 budget appropriation allocations, TSC intends to carry out phase 2 of the salary hike for teachers.
TSC received the lion’s share of the financial allocation for education under these budget forecasts.
A portion of the Sh 369.94 billion allotted to the teacher employer will go toward putting the 2021–2025 Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) into effect.
The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT), the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), and the Kenya Union of Special Needs Education Teachers (KUSNET) had already inked a CBA agreement with TSC.
On August 28, 2023, the phases of the pay augmentation agreement were signed.
According to the agreement, the teacher salary increase would be implemented in two stages starting on July 1, 2023.
The agreement’s first phase, which TSC is now using, was put into effect and runs from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024. The second and final phase, which runs from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025, was then implemented.
Teachers shall also received various House allowance rates under the following categorized four clusters.
These include ;
Cluster 1 that include Nairobi City
Cluster 2:
that covers Mombasa, Kisumu and Nakuru Cities, Nyeri, Eldoret, Thika, Kisii, Malindi and Kitale municipalities.
Cluster 3:
which covers Other former municipalities.
Cluster 4:
that covers all other areas.
TSC kept the House allowance rates for Clusters 1, 2, and 3 under the terms of the agreement’s initial phase.
Nonetheless, the commission reviewed Cluster 4, whose prices would be applied in two stages.

TSC claims that the agreement’s first phase was put into effect in the August 2023 payroll, with arrears retroactive to January 7, 2023. The second phase is to come after this and is scheduled to be paid on January 7, 2024.
Teachers will receive information from their company in June 2024 regarding what to expect when the second phase is put into effect as necessary.
